Food Stamps Increase 2022

In June 2022, according to the latest Consumer Price Index numbers, the foods you buy from groceries or supermarkets increased by 12.2% from the previous year.

This is the biggest increase in 43 years.

Almost all American get the benefits of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program(SNAP) benefits, formerly known as food stamps.

SNAP is assisted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to help low-income Americans purchase food.SNAP benefits are revised each year for inflation.

Income eligibility standards are set by law, with gross monthly income limits set at 130% of the poverty level for the household size.

The SNAP allotment for the fiscal year 2022 is as follows

A household of four members gets $835 a month.

A household of eight members gets $1504 a month.

Each additional member above eight gets $188 a month.
